Ariana Grande’s video showing her “maliciously licking” a donut in a Los Angeles shop just might get her in real trouble. The police are said to be already investigating the incident after security footage showed the singer’s antics.

Associated Press reports that the police are now busy investigating a video showing Grande licking donuts at a certain shop located in Southern California. Aggravating the incident is that a cashier on duty at the said shop claimed the singer had been rude and did not even purchase any donuts from the shop. Police in Lake Elsinore claimed that they are, with the help of Riverside County public health officials are now investigating.

The Department of Environment Health’s help was needed to determine if the shop was in violation of food laws because the doughnuts were just left out unprotected and exposed to the public. In an email to Associated Press, the spokeswoman for the Department, Dottie Ellis-Merki claimed that the incident was wholly an accident and is not a usual practice of the shop. The email clarified that the employee just went back to get some new batches of doughnuts requested by a consumer, so the said trays were left out.

Earlier, Grande already apologised for saying “I hate America,” which was captured by the same footage. The video was posted by on Tuesday by TMZ, wherein Grande’s donut licking incident was followed by her exclaiming she hate Americans as she saw a tray of doughnuts appeared in front of her. Her “I hate America” is said to be taken out of context by those who saw the video and the singer received flak over it. Ariana was quick to do damage control by apologising for her controversial comment.

In a statement to the Associated Press (via USA Today), she said that her comment did not really mean she hates the country. It was just made to express how appalled she is that Americans are consuming so much unhealthy foods without thinking. She personally leads a healthy lifestyle and therefore was bothered by the country’s high child obesity rate, which is one of the highest in the world. "We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies,” she added. It can be noticed that she did not say anything about the licking incident on this statement.

Grande herself took to Twitter to apologize to people who were offended by her comment on the doughnuts and posted her whole AP statement. She reiterated that the comment was just taken out of context. She added that she would be more careful next time on the words she choose to make comments.

Grande's representatives are yet to comment on the said investigation.
