Riverdale's favourite teen-boy Archie Andrews has been entertaining comic book fans since 1941. It is time for fans to find out how Archie dies in one of the upcoming issues of "Life with Archie." CNN reveals details about the death of Archie.

On July 16, 2014, "Life with Archie" issue # 36 details Archie's death as a hero. This shocking news about the death of an iconic comic book character was announced by Jon Goldwater, Archie Comics publisher.

"Life with Archie" series are about picturing Archie's life in the future. He will continue to live in the present day in comics.

CNN asks Jon why they decide to kill Archie and he mentions that it is the natural conclusion to the series.

"Archie dies as he lived -- heroically. He dies saving the life of a friend, and does it in his usual selfless way. Archie has always been a representation of us -- the best of us. Our strengths and our faults," says Jon.

"Writer Paul Kupperberg, with input from myself, has crafted an emotional, impactful and classic story that I know will survive the test of time. This isn't a random one-off or "what-if" story that we're doing as a gag. This is the story that we mapped out carefully and with much thought. This is the death of Archie as we see it, and we're treating it with that same level of gravitas and import. It's a once-in-a-lifetime event, and we are being very considerate about it."

Jon also explained, when asked what they are hoping to achieve with this. He said that at Archie, they believe in telling "a great, memorable story." Also, this storyline is important for the brand.

By showing Archie's death, the comics want to show what he is to the world around him.

"Life with Archie" issue # 37 will fast forward a year and show how the Riverdale members - Archie's lovers Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge, his best buddy Jughead Jones and arch-rival Reggie Mantle - took Archie's death.
