Apple may add new members to its MacBook family this year, with the tech giant believed to be releasing two new super thin 13-inch and 15-inch MacBooks by the end of the second quarter of 2016.

Citing its supply chain sources, Digitimes reported that Apple was preparing to ship two “ultra-thin” Retina MacBooks by the end of June. However, the website did not mention specific models.

The purported MacBooks could be introduced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016, which is supposed to be scheduled in June. The event will likely take place from June 13 to June 17, 2016.

The new MacBook models will reportedly be thinner than the current MacBook Air and imbibe many design elements from the existing 12-inch MacBook. The report also mentioned that the two new MacBooks will help Apple increase its notebook sales.

Moreover, the dwindling inventories of the current MacBook models also substantiate prevailing rumours that Apple is planning to refresh its MacBook lineup. According to Apple Insider, third-party vendors like B&H have limited stocks of both the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro.

Furthermore, the prevailing rumours also support previous speculations that Apple might launch two 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models at the WWDC 2016, as reported by Economic Daily News. But this report claimed that the new MacBook Air models will be launched by the third-quarter of 2016.

The rumoured 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models could be fully redesigned and come with a completely new configuration under the hood.

Earlier in January, there were reports that Apple may unveil the next generation MacBook Pro in June 2016. The rumoured MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to sport Intel’s 6th-generation Skylake processor.

In related news, Apple had launched a smaller 9.7-inch iPad Pro featuring Apple A9X chipset , 12-megapixel iSight camera with support for Live Photos and a four-speaker audio system at its March 2016 event. The tablet will be available for pre-order from March 24 and go on sale from March 31.
