The 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models are now available with discounts of up to $150 (AU$193) on B&H Photo and Best Buy. It indicates that the Cupertino company wants to finish the existing stock of MacBook Air models to make away for the arrival of MacBook Pro 2016 models.

The price of the 11-inch MacBook Air MJVM2LL/A model has been reduced to $749 (AU$967) from its existing price of $899 (AU$1161) on the aforementioned retailer sites. It features 1.6 GHz Intel core i5 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Rumours are rife that Apple may discontinue its MacBook Air lineup by the launching new 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro 2016 models. The upcoming 2016 MacBook Pro models are expected to come with slimmer chassis. They are also expected to resemble the last year’s 12-inch MacBook model.

Apple retired the iPad tablet lineup by launching 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch editions of iPad Pro. The Cupertino company is expected to adopt the same strategy to end the MacBook Air lineup. Apart from the forthcoming 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Pro 2016 models that will arrive with high-end specs, it is also expected to release a 12-inch MacBook model with Retina Display with low-end specs.

Speculations indicate that Apple may release a new 12-inch MacBook model as early as within this month. The reason behind it is as that existing 12-inch MacBook 2015 models have been discontinued on Best Buy. Even other retailers such as MacMall have limited models of last year’s 12-inch MacBook in stock.
