It’s almost Christmas and geeks, geek wannabees and weird ordinary folk have one thing on their minds: tech toys. And for zealots, those tech toys should only be from the Apple, Inc. orchard.

The Apple grapevine hints that a revamped MacBook Air will soon be launched and from what’s being bandied about, this laptop could be well worth the long wait.

"The new MacBook Air is said to take on a slimmer design ... [It] will be enabled by 'fully redesigned' internal components across the board and Apple is reportedly currently working with its suppliers to develop these new components”, according to Mac Rumours.

But zealots won’t mind the upcoming laptop’s supposedly lofty price tag compared to the 2015 MacBook Air that costs $1,000. That’s a lot cheaper than the Microsoft Surface Book. The 2015 MacBook Air lacks the loftier display, great graphics, and memory storage that Microsoft's hybrid has, hence its cheaper price.

The 13-inch MacBook Air was innovative five years ago with its 1,440 x 1900 pixel resolution display. Since then, its competition has overtaken it by a wide margin.

The 12.3-inch Microsoft Surface Pro 4 sports a 2,736 x 1,824 screen pixel resolution. Meanwhile, the 13.5-inch Microsoft Surface Book has a 3,000 x 2,000 pixel resolution screen.

The backwardness of the 13-inch MacBook Air makes people expect Apple to definitely pack the revamped MacBook Air with a high quality display worthy of its competition. The bad news for Apple is the Microsoft Surface Book and Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are also ahead in overall performance, reported IGN.

The Inquisitr also said the MacBook Pro is facing more competition from the Surface Book than the MacBook Air. But the MacBook Pro’s detachable keyboard also poses a great threat to the MacBook Air.

The keyboard allows the installation of the NVIDIA GeFOrce GPU that can further boost graphics, and this is lacking in the MacBook Air.

A Tech Radarreview that gave the Surface Book 4-1/2 stars described the Surface Book as "an all-around terrific device”. Surface Book also has better storage options of 128 GB to 1 TB and 4 GB of RAM upgradable to 16 GB. It’s definitely marginalizing the Macbook Air that comes only with 128 GB or 256 GB of memory and 4 GB of RAM.

Moreover, the MacBook Air doesn’t have a touchscreen and stylus pen support, which is non-negotiable for many.
