The Apple MacBook Air 2017 could be the last product in the company Air line of devices. The device was not mentioned by Apple during the Oct. 27 event when only the MacBook Pro 2016 was announced. The thinnest notebook ever made did not receive any mention and that disappointed Air fans.

As per The Wall Street Journal, there are two reasons to buy the Apple MacBook Air 2017 that is all about battery. It’s the cheapest Mac laptop one can buy and it has a longer battery life than any other Mac. It provided up to 12.5 hours of battery life in a web-surfing test. Two USB ports, SD Card slot, Thunderbolt and a keyboard are also include in the MacBook Air.

Apple is not in the habit of revealing anything about its upcoming devices and that has perhaps kept the speculations regarding the MacBook Air 2017 alive. Fans may have to wait till end of 2016 or early 2017 to get some confirmation whether Apple is really looking to end the Air line of products.

Some tech enthusiasts believe Apple may choose to close the line after releasing the MacBook Air 2017. The 13-inch MacBook Air has received a minor update and that’s an additional, optional RAM. The 11-inch MacBook Air has been officially discontinued.

Tech experts are of the opinion that new thin and powerful MacBook Pro threatens the future of MacBook Air 2017, reports Macworld.

A heavily-anticipated feature in the MacBook Air 2017 is the Retina Display along with the Intel Kaby Lake chipset. Other features speculated are USB 3.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.2 and Thunderbolt 3. As part of the macOS performance upgrade, ARM chips may also be included in the MacBook Air 2017.

The current 13-inch MacBook Air has a price tag of US$999 (AU$1,324). It is almost US$300 cheaper than the Retina MacBook and US$500 cheaper than the new MacBook Pro 2016. The existing MacBook Air is also known for its 12 hours of battery life. However, fans are looking forward to see some great specs and feature in the MacBook Air 2017.
