Apple is rumored to be working on a 12-inch MacBook. It is expected to release it to replace the 12-inch MacBook from 2015. The arrival of the new MacBook seems to be very imminent as Best Buy has stopped the sales of the existing 12-inch MacBook.

According to Apple Insider, all the models of the 12-inch MacBook are mentioned as “sold out” on Best Buy. It also states that “this item is no longer available.” The retailer giant is known to use such words only when it stops the sales of current generation products temporarily or when it is about to begin the sales of refreshed models. MacMall has only 4 models of the MacBook on sale. It is not known when the remaining 8 models will be available.

In the previous month, the System Image Utility application of OS X had included the unreleased 12-inch MacBook in the list of supported models. The listing had mentioned “early 2016” alongside the name of the device. Hence, speculations are rife that the new 12-inch MacBook may release in this month, Mac Rumors reported. It is expected to feature a Retina Display.

The publication has further added that Apple identifies its upcoming models as “early” only when it aims to release them within the starting four months of the year. The discontinuation of the 12-inch MacBook models from Best Buy also indicates that the Cupertino company may release successor model as early as within the last two weeks of this month.

If the new 12-inch MacBook 2016 was to arrive in May, Apple would have identified it as “mid 2016.” Apple had released the 12-inch MacBook last year on April 10. Since it has been over a year after its launch, the arrival of the successor model seems all the more imminent in this month.
