Apple recently released a brand new MacBook 2015 to the well-received Mac series of devices. Microsoft, on the other hand, has seen tremendous success with the two-in-one tablet/laptop Surface Pro 3 released in 2014. With the Surface Pro 3, the tech giant has proved that it can move out of the bulky devices to the current trend of ultra-thin and super-light notebooks garnished with cutting-edge specifications. Therefore, here is a comparison of the newly launched Apple MacBook 2015 and the well-received Microsoft Surface Pro 3.

Apple MacBook vs. Surface Pro 3: Display, Design And Size

The two-in-one Surface Pro 3 is a tablet that can also double as a laptop/notebook. The device features a humongous 12-inch IPS LCD display packed with 2,160 x 1,440 pixels resolution. Plus, the device apparently retains the unique trapezoidal shape of the predecessor. In any case, the tablet is both thinner and lighter. And moreover, the tablet features an internal fan to dissipate heat produced by the powerful processor unit. Furthermore, the classic Windows home button can be located on the left-side of the display. Overall, the Surface Pro 3 supports external stylus, USB and Display ports, a killer kickstand and optional physical keyboard, notes Tech Radar.

The MacBook 2015, on the other hand, comes with a 12-inch LED-backlit Retina display and 2,304 x 1,440 pixels screen resolution. The keyboard of the device reportedly comes with a new “butterfly mechanism” in order to furnish the keys with more stability and better accuracy, notes Tech2. Moreover, the stainless steel dome switches lodged under each key reportedly offer a crisp and reactive feel while typing. Adding a cherry on top, each key on the keyboard has been separately backlit with individual LEDs.

Apparently, Apple has gone to a great extent to make the MacBook super-thin. Therefore, the 12-inch Apple MacBook apparently measures only 13.1 mm and it weighs 2.03 pounds. In any case, the Microsoft device trumps the Apple device fair and square with only 9 mm thickness and 1.75 pounds in weight.

Apple MacBook vs. Surface Pro 3: Under The Hood

The Apple MackBook comes powered by a modest Intel Core M processor. Speaking of memory configuration, the Mac apparently comes equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of in-built storage option. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 3 is powered by a choice of Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor. In comparison, the Surface device comes with 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM choice and 64 GB to 512 GB of internal storage options.

Apple MacBook vs. Surface Pro 3: Missing Elements In Apple Device

Sadly, to achieve the thin exterior, Apple has reportedly removed all the external ports out of the new MacBook 2015. The MacBook comes with a single USB C port. However, the silver lining is that, the tech giant has also built a new keyboard with LEDs beneath each and every key. But unfortunately, the much-appreciated Apple logo on the MacBook will apparently not glow in this new device, says Tech2.

Apple MacBook vs. Surface Pro 3: Battery

Reportedly, the MacBook 2015 comes with a layered battery design and it can provide up to 9 hours of web surfing time and roughly 10 hours of movie playback time. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 3’s battery unit offers only 7 hours+ in the custom test conducted by Trusted Reviews.

Apple MacBook vs. Surface Pro 3: Price

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with 256 GB of internal storage comes for $1,299. When it comes to the Apple MacBook price, the device powered by a relatively inferior Intel Core M processor with 256 GB storage will set the buyers back by the same $1299, notes Tech2.
