Apple is reportedly looking for ways on how to give the public something that is very interesting. According to Apple Insider, the Cupertino-based company is conducting research on how it could give both 2D and 3D images without the need of special ocular equipment such as 3D glasses.

What the company reportedly has in mind is to come up with a display that makes use of a special gaze tracking method, which works by delivering specific images to its viewers. That said, giving different images to multiple viewers at the exact same time might be possible.
As reported by Tech Crunch, this new display technology will be making use of multiple layers to deliver specific output to either of the viewer’s left or right eyes, making 3D image display possible. As per gaze tracking, it will follow the viewer’s eye position through a built-in image sensor. Such technology has been utilized for on-screen control – a feature used in most mobile devices today.
Moreover, Apple’s patent application for this new screen technology – which remains unnamed – will also include graphics depicting. This could largely develop the possibilities for 2D and 3D gaming without having to buy yet another ocular accessory just to enjoy it.
It will also reportedly have a special feature, wherein the 3D settings can be turned off, turning on the 2D capability. Users might want to make use of the device’s 2D features for certain activities where 3D features are not necessary.
This move for a more advanced display resolution is clearly Apple’s attempt at making sure they stay ahead of the competition. However, it must be noted that this particular special 2D/3D imaging tech – without ocular accessories – will have to work perfectly first before it could even be considered for a public launch. As per the other products, Apple will never settle for a device that has a chance to occasionally fail, making their consumers feel like they have been ripped off of their hard-earned money.
