Apple is expected to amass record-breaking sales with the upcoming iPhone 8. The future smartphone is reportedly going to be released in three variants that will not only target premium smartphone users, but the mid-range and low-end market as well. Apple may be launching another iPhone SE under a different name.

iPhone 8 sales are projected to bring Apple tons of money. A KGI Securities analyst revealed via Apple Insider that iPhone suppliers are preparing to increase production to about 120 million to 150 million units in the second half of 2017. Those figures surpass the iPhone 6 launch record of 100 million to 120 million units.

For Apple to reach those numbers, each of the iPhone 8 variants needs to target a specific type of market. The tech giant is set to furnish the iPhone 8 handsets with new enhancements to satisfy old patrons and attract new followers. According to reports, Apple is set to launch a new 5.2-inch OLED iPhone 8 alongside the regular 4.7-inch iPhone 8 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus.

Although the iPhone 8 line-up is bound to be led by the new premium OLED model that is reportedly going to feature a contemporary design backed by superior specs, the 4.7-inch iPhone 8 variant is intended to appeal to mid-range phone users, just like the iPhone SE. All three iPhone 8 models are reportedly going to have glass backs and wireless charging support, making the 4.7-inch variant a potential interesting buy.

Apple wants to replicate the success of the iPhone SE one way or another. The phone’s launch was a pleasant surprise and it provided consumers who weren’t willing to spend big bucks on an Apple handset a chance to try out a lower-priced iPhone. The Cupertino-based company may not produce another handset under the iPhone SE moniker, but it shall certainly use the “special edition” phone’s feats moving forward.
