An alleged leaked image of the Apple iPhone 8 has highlighted a feature that has not gone down well with fans. The leak shows the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the rear of the phone. The relocated scanner is causing much outrage.

Android fans have got used to this feature, Apple users were fast to point out how ridiculous and impractical the move is. The scanner in most Android devices is at the back but in a comfortable position. The Samsung Galaxy S8 was also criticised for putting the scanner at the back. However, if the latest iPhone 8 leak is true, the scanner seems to be at the centre of the rear. It’s far below the Apple logo. Users on Reddit have gone berserk and many have described the move as worse than the S8.

It will indeed be very cumbersome to take the index finger to the revealed position while holding the phone in the hand. Certain Redditors are optimistic though, and are certain that the hole showed in the leaked image is not the fingerprint scanner but something else. Some simply refused to believe that Apple would make the silly mistake of putting the scanner below the logo and at the centre. There are still others who stated that even if the scanner is placed where the leaked image shows, it’s still worth it as they would be getting a larger screen.

Apple is expected to be unveiling three iPhones this year with the premium model having a 5.8-inch curved OLED display. The premium model is also coming with a full-glass body. Apple is surely dropping the physical Home button to have an edge-to-edge display and minimal bezels. According to News.com.au, many are questioning Apple as why the company is not making its logo double as the fingerprint scanner. The logo seems to be in a perfect position and can easily function as the fingerprint scanner.

The Apple iPhone 8 is a hugely-expected device along with the Galaxy Note 8. As per KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Galaxy Note 8 will likely match the iPhone 8 is several key areas. It will be a divergence from the recently-released Galaxy S8. Note 8 may go with a dual-camera setup. Kuo believes that the dual-camera setup will be better than the iPhone 7 Plus’ and will match the performance of the OLED iPhone 8. The Note 8 will have a bigger display than its predecessors and will come with a 4K resolution.
