The Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are easily two of the best selling flagship smartphones released so far. In general, the high-end Galaxy S series and iPhone series of handsets have always been at the top of the list for potential buyers, each year, notes Sam Mobile. As one would expect, this trend did not change in 2014/2015 either, as the impressive Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge were pitted against the mighty Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus. However, now, a new report states that the Galaxy S6 has apparently dented the sales figures of the Apple iPhone 6.

Based on a report dated April 20 from ATLAS Research & Consulting via ET News, the launch of Samsung Galaxy S6 has marked a relative downfall in the sales of iPhone 6. The report says, the sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus specific to the second week of April were 35,000 units. However, Apple seemed to have amassed 1,700+ more units during the first week of April when compared to the following week. Also it is worth noting that, roughly 79,586 Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units were reportedly sold in the first six days of the release, starting from April 10.

In any case, readers should note that, the Galaxy S6 sales figures mentioned in this report account only the offline sales. Therefore, upon considering the sales numbers obtained via online channels, the final sales figure could increase by a substantial margin, notes ET News.

On the other hand, the sales figures pertaining to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge specific to the first week of launch are apparently four times higher than the first week sales numbers of the Galaxy S5, released in March 2014. To be specific, Samsung shipped roughly 20,000 Galaxy S5 units in the first week. Meanwhile, the sales figures of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have reportedly been waning in a steady pace from the end of March. During the third week of March, Apple apparently sold 65,018 iPhone units, however, during the fourth and fifth weeks, the figures reportedly dropped to 57,328 and 48,544, respectively.

But then, readers should note that, the Apple iPhone 6 and its bigger sibling iPhone 6 Plus were released several months prior to the release of Samsung Galaxy S6 series of devices. Notably, the Vice Chairman of ATLAS Research, Jang Joong-hyeok, apparently quoted saying, “It is very natural for iPhone 6 sales to decline, as six months have passed since its release,” ET News reports.

What do you think of the sales figures? Should Apple be worried? Or Do you feel Apple iPhone 6 has already made an impact? Feel free to leave a comment.
