Apple is reportedly gearing up to release the iPad Pro tablet, also known as the iPad Plus. Interestingly, some Websites are calling this tablet as Apple iPad Air 3. So far, the reposts have been constant in terming the iPad Pro as the biggest iPad ever, especially when compared to the current line-up of iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2. In the meantime, Apple will apparently target the education-centric and business-focused customers with the iPad Pro. Therefore, it is evident that, the tech titan wants to take the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro 4 head-on. Here is a roundup of iPad Pro release date, reported features and specifications.

Apple is known for unveiling incremental upgrades to its tablet and smartphone line-up every year. And this year too, the iPad line-up is believed to get a successor. However, not all device upgrades have seen radical changes in the past. But then, the upcoming Apple iPad Pro is expected to overhaul the iPad series of devices with a brand new design and a killer size. Notably, the iPad Pro release date is tipped for fall 2015, notes Cross Map.

In the meantime, 9To5 Mac says, Tim Cook, Apple CEO, has apparently defended the iPad even when the tablet sales figures are falling. In any case, Cook has reportedly acknowledged that Apple will invest in the iPad “product pipeline” (i.e. presumed as iPad Pro) as scheduled. But then, he did not give inputs on when the iPad sales will see an upswing. Nevertheless, he “strongly predicts” the growth will be good.

In order to compete with the mighty Surface Pro 3/4, Apple will apparently feature a huge display of 12.9-inch. Plus, other iPad Pro specifications include four speakers and an optional pen/stylus. Moreover, the upcoming tablet will reportedly be the thinnest iPad line-up ever, released by Apple. Cross Map also states that, the device will be as thin as the iPhone 6 in the ambit of 6.9 mm to 7.1 mm.

Other reported iPad Pro features include the powerful Apple A9 chipset complemented by a killer 4 GB of RAM configuration. When it comes to memory specification, the tablet is expected to come as 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB variants. To top it off, this iPad is also believed to house a finger print scanner, similar to the current iPad Air 2, notes Cross Map. Nonetheless, Apple has not confirmed the iPad Pro specifications and release date thus far.
