The Apple iPad Air 3 was surprisingly omitted from the company’s latest event where iPhone 7 and Apple Watch Series 2 took centre stage. However, there still is a demand for the mid-range tablet amidst speculation that Apple could be dropping the Air line completely.

However, Reporter Times stated that there is a chance that Apple is thinking of coming up with a new pad at a lower price. Thus, the Apple iPad Air 3 could be a cheaper option for fans. It is also possible that the tech giant is currently focussing its efforts on the Pro line.

There have also been reports of the company bringing changes in the hardware of iPad Air 3 that is resulting in the delay. There is a chance that the tablet will be released in the first quarter of 2017 but there is no way to verify the rumours.

As per iTech Post, the Apple iPad Air 3 could be powered by an A10 processor and have internal storage of 64GB. Needless to say, it will come with an upgraded iOS 10. There are also rumours of the tablet coming with an AMOLED display and a 2048x1538 resolution. Some suggest it will have a four-spear audio system and full Apple support.

It is very difficult at this stage to gauge how much of these rumours are true. While the pre-installed iOS 10, A10 chipset and 64GB internal storage are also found in the iPhone 7, it is highly likely that the Apple iPad Air 3 will also come with these specs.

It is not known whether the iPad Air 3 will come with Apple Pencil support. Even if the device supports the Apple Pencil, it won’t come free with the device.

It appears users have to wait till the first quarter of 2017 to fully understand if there will be an Apple iPad Air 3. If it doesn’t show up, it will be okay to think that Apple has scrapped the Air line.
