Based on the latest report, Apple is gearing up to release the iOS 8.1.3 software update to compatible devices across the globe starting this week. Apparently, the tech giant has already seeded the Apple iOS 8.1.3 update, tied to the build number 12B460, to a slew of retail employees for the purpose of testing.

Although, the iOS 8.1.3 update is in news for quite some time now, the Cupertino headquartered company reportedly was not testing the build with the help of retail employees, until now. Macrumors points out that, owing to the iOS testing, there is a surge of visits made by devices running the iOS 8.1.3 software. Apparently, the increase in number of devices running on the latest software build has been gradual. On Dec. 8, prior to the release of iOS 8.1.2, dozens of visitors were reportedly using the iOS 8.1.3 build. However now, the site is seeing hundreds of visits with the latest update.

Moreover, Apple has not given any details on what to expect from the latest build. Most probably, the updates will target minor enhancements and bug fixes, says Phone Arena. Notably, the last update rolled out by Apple was Apple iOS 8.1.2, not too long ago. The aforesaid update fixed the annoying ringtone issue, along with other minor fixes.

On the other hand, the iOS 8's next big software update is the Apple iOS 8.2. This update will reportedly come with the WatchKit SDK that was rolled out to developers in November 2015. According to reports, this update has brought in substantial system changes. Nonetheless, unlike the iOS 8.1.3, the iOS 8.2 will go through an extended beta testing period, prior to the official announcement. Based on the speculations, the official launch of the major version will be alongside the upcoming Apple Watch. If reports are true, the Apple Watch will debut in March 2015.

In addition to the iOS 8.1.3 and iOS 8.2 updates, Apple employees are also reportedly testing iOS 8.3 and iOS 9. Nevertheless, the number of visits made from these devices are quite less when compared to the upcoming iOS 8.1.3, says Macrumors.
