On Tuesday, Dec. 9, Apple rolled out the iOS 8.1.2 software update over the air. This update brings in a slew of bug fixes to the operating system. Moreover, the patch note states that the iOS 8.1.2's bug fixes will work for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices.

Bug Fixes

iPhone users reportedly complained that the "ringtones" bought via Apple iTunes store were being deleted from the Apple devices automatically. With this iOS 8.1.2 update, Apple has apparently fixed the ringtone issue. Therefore, readers with such problem can log into itunes.com/restore-tones and follow the guidelines to fix the issue, according to BGR.

How To Get Apple iOS 8.1.2 Update?

Apple device users can download the iOS 8.1.2 update by navigating Settings -> General -> Software Update from any compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch. After which, users can follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

What Are The Compatible Apple Devices?

Apple iOS 8.1.2 software update can be downloaded and installed on the following compatible devices: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S. Speaking of other Apple devices, the Apple iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina display, iPad Mini, third-generation and fourth-generation iPads, iPad 2 and lastly, the fifth-generation iPod touch are also compatible.

Note

MacRumors points out that the iOS 8.1.2 update with the build number 12B440 was not seeded to developers prior its release for public use. Also, except for the minor bug fixes, this update does not bring in the speculated enhancements to Maps and split-screen multitasking feature specific to the iPads. Reportedly, Apple iOS 8.2 with WatchKit SDK is already in the works and the build was seeded to developers in November.

Apple iOS 8 Adoption Rate

Apple's major release, the iOS 8, was rolled out to the public several months back. Now the iOS 8 adoption rate stands at 63 percent, according to Apple via MacRumors. It is worth noting that iOS 8's adoption figures have increased to roughly 7 percent in November. When calculated from Oct. 27, the adoption rate has increased to 11 percent, says the same site. On the other hand, the iOS 7 usage has seen a steep fall from 43 percent in October to 33 percent by Dec. 8.

Notably, Apple calculates the adoption rate based on the App Store usage. The same number is reflected by inputs from the analytics firm MixPanel. According to MixPanel, the Apple iOS 8 adoption rate currently stands at 63.94 percent.
