Michael Peña has cleared all doubts about his character’s return in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” The actor recently confirmed his return, so he will be reprising his role as Luis.

The confusion and apprehension started when Peña (Luis) said in a previous interview that he is yet to get a call from Marvel Studios to reprise his role. He further added at that time that he wasn’t even sure he would get the call. For many, the character’s return seemed obvious after his popularity among the fan base.

During the red carpet event of his new film “CHIPS,” Peña told LRM that he will be doing Universal film “Extinction” next, and he also confirmed that he will also begin work on “Ant-Man 2.”

Peyton Reed will be back at the helm to direct the sequel. The production is scheduled to start this summer. Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym) and Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne) will be reprising their roles. More casting announcements are expected to be made soon.

With Scott joining the Avengers team, some of other superheroes may make a cameo appearance in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” This will be in line with Marvel strategy to cross promote different superheroes, and weave a more integrated story in the larger cinematic universe they have carefully built over the years. In the past, actors like Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) have made cameos in other superhero movies.

Reports suggest that Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) may be a part of the upcoming film, but there has been no official confirmation about that yet. Anthony Mackie (Falcon) joined Rudd in the first film, but it isn’t clear if he will be reprising his role in the sequel.

A new villain is also yet to be cast in the film. The name of the new villain may also give a hint at what the plot would be about. The title suggests that the storyline will mostly focus on how Hope will take on the role of The Wasp, a character from the comic books who has the ability to shrink in size, fly using insect-like wings and fire energy blasts at her enemies.

While the fans wait for more casting announcements, they can take comfort in the fact that Luis will be there in the film to keep it light hearted. The character’s scenes were some of the most humorous and memorable scenes in the 2015 movie.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” is slated to be released on July 6, 2018 in Australia. The release date for Australia has not been announced by Marvel yet.
