When we think of Marvel's "Ant-Man," we picture actor Paul Rudd in great shape donning the superhero suit as he gets shrunk in size. But do you know the original "Ant-Man" was not Paul's character Scott Lang but someone else? Yes, the creator of the powerful "Ant-Man" suit was Hank Pym (played by actor Michael Douglas) and he was also a superhero before he mentored Lang to become the "Ant-Man." But Douglas will not be seen donning the "Ant-Man" suit in the movie. So to set the mood for their July 17, 2015 big release of the movie, Marvel plans to launch a series of comics from the era when Pym was the "Ant-Man."

"Ant-Man Prelude" from Marvel Comics will be released in February in two parts by Marvel Cinematic Universe. The comic book will tell the story of Pym in his youth when he became "Ant-Man" during the post World War II days of the Cold War era. Pym operated at a time when "Gorbachev was leader of the Soviet Union," the Marvel Studios Creative Research Director Will Corona Pilgrim is quoted as saying by Newsarama. Pilgrim also added that the factor that impacted Pym's character most is the "evolving position" of the agency S.H.I.E.L.D. and Berlin Wall. "Pym finds himself on a field mission that pits him against a major distinguishing landmark of the Cold War: the Berlin Wall," said Pilgrim.

The purpose to release the "Ant-Man Prelude" is to build a little background in the mind of movie goers, tell them about the history of "Ant-Man" and how he came into shape. The prelude tells the story of adventures Pym undertakes wearing the suit of "Ant-Man." Douglas told Reuters in his latest interview that he has been "dying to do a Marvel picture for so long." The seasoned actor called "Ant-Man's" script as "really fun" and said that he was happy with the choice of director Peyton Reed. Douglas also added that his 13-year-old son, Dylan will "love it." "Ant-Man" is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2015 and stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll, among others.
