It seems that “Angry Birds” developer Rovio is attempting to have an “Angry Birds” game for every mobile game genre out there. The birds have been in an RPG with “Angry Birds Epic” and have also gone kart racing in “Angry Birds Go!” Now the birds are attempting to master the puzzle-rpg genre made popular by “Puzzle Quest” in the recently announced “Angry Birds Fight!” that's coming soon to mobile devices.

While the game was only announced recently, “Angry Birds Fight!” has actually been soft-launched in South East Asia for two months now, according to an article from App Advice. As stated earlier, “Angry Birds Fight!” is a match-3 game, which will apparently feature online multiplayer, as players can take on their friends in a fun and supposedly strategic battles.

Instead of being a straight up puzzle game, however, “Angry Birds Fight!” will be a role-playing game that utilises a match-3 battle system. Basically, players must match three tiles, which will then determine how much damage will be done to the opponent. Each tile will have a different element and attacks, with four or five tiles doing more damage than the regular attacks.

One odd thing Rovio is hyping up about the mobile title is that the game will supposedly be a “cultural mash-up,” a first for the “Angry Birds” series. As can be seen in the trailer below, one of these cultures being represented is Japan, though the choice of sumo wrestling is an odd one, considering it has very little to do with match-3 games as a whole.

Pocket Gamer had previously done a hands-on impression of the game but was unimpressed with the product. That being said, it was still early in development and the fact that the game is coming out in spring might mean that Rovio may have made some welcome improvements to the game.

Right now “Angry Birds Fight!” is only slated for release on iOS devices, with no immediate plans for an Android version of the game. It seems that the “Angry Birds” characters can mesh with any mobile game genre, so fans of match-3 gameplay may want to give this game a shot.
