It is now official--'Unbroken' will have its world premiere in Australia on November 17. The war movie is the directorial debut of the gorgeous American actress Angelina Jolie. The news has been confirmed by its distributor Universal Pictures.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that the actress, who is currently in Malta directing her next project starring her newly married husband Brad Pitt, is also coming to Australia for the premiere of her movie 'Unbroken'.

'Unbroken' is a war movie based on real life story of a veteran Louis Zamperini who fought during World War 2. He was a successful Olympic athlete who later joined the armed forces in 1941. During the war, his plane was shot down and he reportedly became stranded on a raft for 47 days. The athlete survived somehow, but was later caught by Japanese forces.

The movie reportedly captured beautifully the heart wrenching and enduring moments of this true epic tale. Fans are given a sneak peek of the movie in the trailer released earlier. Unfortunately, the war veteran and real life hero on whom the movie is based died on July 2 this year.

Jolie will be donning the hat of the director for the first time and is quite closely associated with the project. The movie is slated to be released in the United States on Christmas weekend and is already creating an Oscar buzz for the actress.

The movie is shot extensively in Queensland and other adjoining areas in Australia. Pitt, along with their six kids, camped in a huge Vaucluse mansion in Sydney's eastern suburbs for six months to offer full moral support to the new director of the family.

Jolie and her family were completely enchanted and thoroughly enjoyed their prolonged stay in Australia. The brood of 'Brangelina' soon became a common sight and often spotted enjoying the local cuisine or sightseeing, as told by the Daily mail. She even admitted that everyone enjoyed their stay so much that they even considered an Australian wedding before deciding to tie the knot in France.

After 'Anchorman 2', 'Unbroken' is the first movie to have a world premiere in Australia. Click to watch the trailer.
