Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, 37, is currently in the spotlight receiving an overflowing support after her courageous revelation that she had double mastectomy. Her decision to come forward and share her experience is a reminder that there are other female celebrities who went through the same surgical procedure as well as some non-celebrity women out there.

Studies explain that a woman will most likely develop breast cancer five times after inheriting the mutation in the breast cancer genes including BRCA1 and BRCA2 with the risk of ovarian cancer compared to a woman did not inherit the mutation gene.

Listed below are the other celebrities who had double mastectomy like Angelina Jolie:

1. Sharon Osbourne. The wife of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne had double mastectomy after the doctors found out that she was carrying the gene prone to breast cancer. In November 2012, Sharon revealed that the decision was a no-brainer because she wanted to be a grandmother for a long time with her son Jack's baby daughter named Pearl.

"It's not 'pity me'. It's a decision I made that's got rid of this weight I was carrying around. I didn't want to live the rest of my life with that shadow hanging over me," the 60-year-old mother of Kelly and Jack Osbourne revealed to Hello! Magazine.

2. Kathy Bates. The 64-year-old Academy Award-winning actress confirmed in September 2012 that she underwent the surgical procedure after the doctors diagnosed her with breast cancer. In the past, Kathy Bates battled with ovarian cancer as well.

"My doctors assured me that I'm going to be around for a long time," Bates shared.

3. Giuliana Rancic. The host of TV entertainment show "E! News" admitted in October 2011 that she was battling the early stages of breast cancer and eventually decided to have double mastectomy.

"It was just a kick in the stomach. That was definitely the hardest day," the 38-year-old TV host shared what she felt after receiving the news that has breast cancer.

4. Christina Applegate. In August 2008, the actress had an early stage of breast cancer in one breast but decided to double mastectomy because her mother had battled the ailment as well. She happily confirmed that she is 100% clear of breast cancer three weeks after the surgical procedure.

5. Wanda Sykes. During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2011, the 49-year-old comedian shared that she decided to have double mastectomy because she did want to experience a breast cancer recurrence. "I have a lot of breast cancer history on my mother's side of the family," Sykes revealed on the TV show "Ellen."

6. Michelle Heaton. The 33-year-old British singer and TV star had a tough decision in 2012 on having both of her breasts removed because she had the BRCA2 gene and an 80% chance of developing breast cancer. Furthermore, Michelle had the risk of developing ovarian cancer so she decided for her ovaries to be removed as well.

Michelle Heaton revealed that she decided to get over the traumatic procedure in order to "start living again." She made an appearance on the "Late Late Show" and revealed how the breast cancer diagnosis affected her life.
