World No. 1 Andy Murray will face French veteran Benoit Paire in the fourth-round of the 2017 Wimbledon on Monday. World No. 46 Paire, a clay court specialist, has advanced past the third round at The Championships for the first time in his career and will look to bounce back after a poor showing at Roland Garros in June.

Murray, despite entering the tournament with so-so form, dropped a set to Fabio Fognini in the third-round on Friday but has been playing great tennis at SW19. The Scot is No. 2 in the list of odds-on favourites to lift the trophy next Sunday, behind the third seeded Roger Federer. Murray and Federer could be on a collision course in Sunday's semi-final but not before getting through stern competition for the next of the week.

Paire and Murray have faced just once before. The Scot prevailed in three sets in the fourth round of the 2016 Monte Carlo Masters. That hard-fought victory triggered a spectacular run for Murray which included the 2016 Wimbledon title, the Olympic gold medal and the No. 1 ranking. In fact, Murray credited the victory over Paire for sowing the seeds for a memorable 2016, a few days before their match on Monday.

"He (Paire) again has a different game to a lot of the guys now. He has very good hands, moves well, takes a lot of chances, goes for his shots. Again, he can be quite up and down. But he seems to have played pretty well so far at this event. I expect that to be tricky. I've never played him on the grass before. I think until this year he hasn't played so well on the grass himself. But I see no reason why he can't play good grass-court tennis. I think I only played him once before, and it was a really tight match," said Murray, via The Telegraph.

Paire acknowledges that the underdog tag gives him the freedom to test Murray. "To play Murray on Centre Court will be a good experience. I think I can do something good against him. Obviously I missed a few days' practice last week. I'll work on some of the things I would have done before the tournament if I had those days there. I'll try to get a lot out of it, if possible," said the 30-year-old Frenchman.

On Monday, Andy Murray's fourth-round tie will be the second scheduled match on Centre Court after Venus Williams completes her Round of 16 affair. Federer, the tournament favourite, will face Grigor Dimitrov shortly after Murray's match.
