Tennis star Andy Murray has gotten engaged to his longtime girlfriend Kim Sears, as per the latest reports. The Wimbledon champion has finally popped the question to Ms. Sears after a relationship of almost nine years.

BBC shared the news that the British tennis star has recently proposed to his Sussex-born girlfriend. The girl in question is the daughter of the former Lawn Tennis Association head of women's tennis league, Nigel Sears. The two met at the US Open in 2005.

The British player popped the big question on Wednesday and the two are officially getting married very soon. Earlier this year, the player raised similar speculations as he joked that he will marry after Wimbledon. However, Murray clarified the joke on Twitter within an hour saying, "I'm not getting married (yet)." The player finally took the plunge during a recent trip to the Philippines.

Other than a brief break in 2010, the couple have been quite steady and practically dated since they were teenagers. Daily Mail has even drawn quite a few parallels between the famous couple and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as few of the extraordinarily long and successful courtship in recent British history.

Although Sears has been seen to a constant active presence in the player's professional life, she has managed to maintain an exceptionally low profile. In fact, the press had been unaware of their relationship until 2006 when she surprised everyone by planting an impromptu public kiss on the tennis player after he won his first ATP tournament in San Jose.

Sears is an artist and a dog lover who has a unique sense of style, which is quite similar to the Duchess in terms of elegance and taste, as described by the Daily Mail. In 2013, The Telegraph even claimed that 'Kim Sears reinvents the WAG at Wimbledon.' The couple is now a regular on the front row at London Fashion Week.

Though no date has been revealed yet, it has been speculated that the couple will tie the knot very soon in the Cromlix house, which is a luxury hotel near Murray's hometown of Dunblane. The place is owned by the player himself. The couple is already living together in a $9.2 million mansion in Oxshott, Surrey, which they also own together.
