Andy Murray has revealed his secret to a happy and healthy marriage. Murray, who married long-time girlfriend Kim Sears in early April, says spending time apart from each other has helped their relationship.

The tennis champ told The Sun that it’s not actually “a bad thing” that he spends less time together with Kim. Andy says he “appreciates it more” when he and his wife spend two or three weeks apart.

"You spend six months with each other, then every single day you start arguing about little things. We don't have to travel with each other every single week to make it work,” he said.

Hello Magazine says Murray also finds this set up appealing especially when it comes to his tennis schedule. It’s reported that Kim only attends five of her husband’s tournaments in a year, but visits Andy at just the right moment to offer him a break from his game where he doesn’t have to be with his team or talk about tennis. Instead they can do things together as a couple.

"When she comes, it's nice. It's normally at the end of a three or four-week trip,” Murray revealed to The Sun.

Although Kim is married to a famous tennis star, Andy says his wife prefers to be out of the spotlight. He told The Sun that it’s one of the things he appreciates from Kim since she had to sacrifice her privacy for the media attention that comes with their relationship. However, the 28-year old is hoping that they would only get a “few more years left of it” before they can finally be out of the limelight.

The couple, who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Dunblane Castle, are reportedly expecting their first child together in 2016 with Kim expected to give birth in February. However, this news has yet to be confirmed by the couple and their family.

Murray previously expressed his apprehension about starting his own family with Kim during an interview with BBC Sport . The tennis champ said it would be “more life-changing” although in a good way. The 28-year old tennis champ is currently vying for a win at the 2015 U.S. Open.
