Would you pay £1 for Andy Murray’s signed tennis ball? Andy and his wife Kim are set to auction a white tennis ball signed by Murray and another former Wimbledon champion, Fred Perry, in a charity raffle to raise funds for cancer since then auctioneers are reportedly unable to put a monetary value on the said memorabilia.

According to Herald Scotland, the ball is one of a set of three that was given to Andy by tennis fan Gael Sargeant, who was suffering from ovarian cancer. When Andy won the 2013 Wimbledon, he signed those balls. He and wife Kim set aside one for themselves, while the third ball has been donated to the Wimbledon museum.

Andy has decided to auction the ball for charity in an effort to raise funds in cancer, which took the lives of Sargeant, who succumbed to the killer disease in 2010, and Andy’s friends’ tennis player Elena Baltacha and Ross Hutchins. All proceeds will go to the St. Peter and St. James Hospice. The raffle tickets are priced £1 each. The raffle tickets are available at www.raffleplayer.com/andymurray. The winning ticket will be drawn on the July 12, which is the same date as the 2015 Wimbledon finals.

“I am incredibly grateful to Gail for the gift she gave me all those years ago," Murray said. "It didn't seem right to just keep them hidden away, so many people are touched by cancer, so I'm really hoping we can raise a lot of money with this raffle."

Meanwhile, Andy has started working on his training for the upcoming grasscourt tournaments. He will officially kick off his grasscourt season at the 2015 Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club in London. Andy is a three-time champion at Queen’s Club (2009, 2011, and 2013). The tournament boasts a strong lineup of players including Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Marin Cilic, Milos Raonic, and defending champion Grigor Dimitrov.

Andy said via his website that the Aegon Championships is a great warmup for Wimbledon. The British tennis ace will be looking to win his fourth title at Queen’s Club, which runs from June 15 to June 21.
