Android has been steadily gaining ground in the e-commerce and advertising sector with Android One earning CyanogenMod's attention.

Android may be changing for the better as it breaks notions about fragmentation issues and low earning potential. Previously, analysts remained convinced that low-end, fragmented and malware-ridden nature of the platform cannot propel it commercially but recent stats disagree with Android posting monster commercial numbers. Will Google dominate Apple to get ahead of revenues and advertising? Android One also makes it to the headlines with CyanogenMod attack.

According to Business Insider, Android has been underappreciated in the commercial sector with some undermining its potential for advertising, software industries and commerce. Some analysts still have the outdated notion that it is a platform ridden with too many issues and low-end products. However, according to the report's stats, Android has been catering to massive audience of 1.2 billion active users estimated. This means that its potential cannot be ignored.

Google's major mobile OS platform is gaining ground faster than most competitors. It has also been posting ideal revenues including on ads. While Apple still remains the revenue king, Android has been catching up twice as fast at 39%.

Fragmentation may remain a problem but it is not as pressing or a huge roadblock as most like to see. Android devices may vary in operating system edition, screen size and device configuration but around 80% of device around the world are operating on two of the most recent updates. It is more than 90% in the United States. The roll out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop should address this further.

Despite being plagued with pricing and an availability issue, Android One continues to gain attention this time from the CyanogenMod team.

Android One's goal is to provide a smartphone accessible to the masses. The project started with smartphones priced at $100. However, Micromax will reportedly leave the initiative to bring CyanogenMod's custom Android operating system according to Deccan Chronicle. The CyanogenMod team is reportedly coordinating with Micromax India to offer the CM operating system on budget hardware. XDA's varun.chitre15 also managed to access an Android One device installing the CM operating system.
