Sony has released the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OTA update for a wide range of Xperia Z devices. It has currently rolling out the update for different variants of Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 devices.

Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 Series

The Japanese tech giant has released an Android Marshmallow upgrade with build number 23.5.A.0.570 to Xperia Z2 devices such as Xperia Z2 smartphone with model number D6502, Xperia Z2 Tablet with model numbers SGP511, SGP512 and SGP521.

The Android 6.0.1 update is also available for Sony Xperia Z3 series that includes D6646 and D6653 editions of Xperia Z3 smartphone, Xperia Z3 Dual smartphone with model number D6633 and D5833 edition of Xperia Z3 Compact.

The software upgrade for all the aforementioned devices weighs 900 MB, Xperia Blog reported. At the start of this month, Sony had rolled out the latest Android build along with the security update for the February month to Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact with the respective model numbers of D5603, D6603 and D5803. Almost all the variants of Xperia Z2 and Z3 are now updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. However, the Japanese company has still not rolled out Android M update to the owners of Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

The Xperia Beta Program was launched in October 2015 for the users of Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. The beta program allowed users to install the beta edition of Marshmallow OS on their devices before receiving its final edition. Since the beta program met with good response from the users, it allowed Xperia Z2 owners to enroll for it.

Sony Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet and Xperia Z5 Series

In the previous month, Sony had already released Android M update with 32.1.A.1.163 build number to all the smartphones from the Xperia Z5 lineup that includes Z5, Z5 Premium and Z5 Compact. The E6553 and E6533 variants of Xperia Z3+ smartphone as well as SPG712 and SPG771 models of Xperia Z4 Tablet have also received the Android M update in March.
