Verizon has started the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA rollout for its Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and HTC One M8 users, becoming the first US carrier to release the update for the Galaxy Note 5.

Mo Versi, senior VP and product manager at HTC, tweeted that the HTC One M8 on Verizon would start receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update starting from March 7.

Verizon’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 not only brings the latest Android build but also the newest edition of TouchWiz UI to the device. The update also includes the upgraded Samsung Internet 4.0 browser and Cross App multitasking feature.

It is an OTA update that brings the software version MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPB2. Verizon has also included its own features in the software upgrade such as Wi-Fi Calling as well as YouTube Broadcast.

The HTC One M8 was launched in 2014 with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled. Its users have received software upgrades like Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop. Versi revealed that Verizon would provide One M8 users with the latest Android 6.0 upgrade. However, owners of Verizon HTC One M9 are yet to receive the Android Marshmallow upgrade.

Versi has also posted a similar tweet for T-Mobile HTC One M8 users. Starting from March 7, T-Mobile will also be releasing the Android 6.0 upgrade for One M8 owners. At this stage, even HTC One M9 users on T-Mobile have not received the Android M update. It must be noted that the Android M update will be released for the aforementioned smartphones in different phases. This means it will be arriving gradually and users will not be receiving the upgrade simultaneously.

In order to install the Android 6.0 upgrade for your device, it is recommended that you connect to a Wi-Fi network and fully charge the battery of your gadget.
