Samsung Galaxy Note 3 only recently received Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Although this did delight users, the excitement was short-lived since the device wasn’t among those slated to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Because of this, developers came up with something else on the update's behalf. Now, there’s a Custom ROM that can still allow its users to enjoy Google's latest Android OS.

Morningstar, a known Prolific XDA Developer Forum member, was the one that released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based CyanogenMod 13, or CM13, series Custom ROM for the Galaxy Note 3 LTE model, as pointed out by Realty Today. With this release, the Samsung phablet is now eligible for the update.

It must be noted this Custom ROM is still in its experimental stage. That said, it’s expected to come with multiple bugs. Those interested in trying it out must proceed with caution.

A step-by-step process is available on Venture Capital Post and it will teach users how to install the Custom ROM for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Galaxy Note 3 owners have to download the CyanogenMod 13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Custom Rom zip file to their computer. Also, they need to download the Google Apps zip file from the XDA Developer Forum.

Afterwards, the device must be connected to the computer with the use of a functioning USB cable. The saved zip files must be copied to a MicroSD card attached to the device.

It’s only then the unit must be turned off and disconnected from the computer. Once done, the device must be booted to its Recovery Mode, which can be accomplished by long pressing the Power and Volume Down buttons.
