The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now being rolled out by leading smartphone OEMs like Samsung, Sony, and HTC. Motorola too is swiftly releasing the Android 6.0 upgrade for its smartphones from 2014 and 2015. The company is also poised to release Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow in the first quarter of this year.

Moto X Pure Edition (2015), Moto X Style, Moto X (2014)

The testing of Android 6.0 update for Moto X Pure Edition (2015) started in the previous month. Among the US carriers, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular have already released the update for its subscribers.

The smartphone was launched as Moto X Style outside the US. Last month, the update was made available for Moto X Style users in various regions like Brazil, India and Europe, Android Central reported.

Moto X Play, Droid Maxx 2

The Moto X Play midrange smartphone that was unveiled with Moto X Style is available in the US with Verizon Droid Maxx 2. The Android 6.0 update is currently unavailable for these smartphones.

Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2

The Moto X Force that sports a shatter-proof and flagship specs like Snapdragon 810 and 3GB of RAM was launched in the US as Verizon Droid Turbo 2. The Droid Turbo 2 Employee Edition smartphone that was exclusively released for Verizon staff members has already received the Android 6.0 upgrade, Droid-Life reported. The firmware upgrade is currently unavailable for the general edition of Droid Turbo 2 and Moto X Force.

Moto G (2015), Moto G (2014)

The Moto G (2015) users are currently receiving the Android M update, Phone Arena reported. As far as Moto G (2014) and Moto G 4G (2014) users are concerned, the official Motorola blog has stated that both the smartphones are eligible to receive the Android 6.0 upgrade. The updates are likely to arrive soon for these smartphones in the near future.

Moto E (2015), Moto E (2014)

Motorola has not released the Android M upgrade for Moto E (2015) yet. Since the Moto E (2014) is not present on the list of Android 6.0 eligible devices, currently it seems unlikely that the update will be arriving for it.

The Android 6.0 will also be coming to the Droid Turbo and Moto Maxx smartphones, but there is no information on the exact timeframe of its arrival. The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is a minor update that brings 200+ emojis and performance enhancements. As of this writing, Motorola has not revealed any details on releasing Android 6.0.1 update for its devices.
