HTC One M9 unlocked edition users are now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The Taiwanese tech giant has also released Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for users of unlocked HTC One A9 smartphone.

On Dec. 23, the Vice President of Product Management with HTC, Mo Versi had revealed through a tweet that unlocked editions of HTC One M9 and One A9 users will be able to install Android 6.0 and 6.0.1 update, respectively in 24 hours. The updates have been released for both smartphones as promised by Versi. However, the only users of the above mentioned smartphones in the US are able to install the updates.

Currently, there is no information available as to when unlocked HTC One M9 and One A9 smartphones outside US will be able to install the Android 6.0 and 6.0.1 updates. According to Phone Arena, the Android M updates will be rolled out for users outside US in the near future.

Even though the Taiwanese tech giant has released Android M update for unlocked HTC One M8 users at the start of December, its carrier variants have not received the update till now. Hence, speculations are rife that Android 6.0 Marshmallow for carrier editions of HTC One M9 and its predecessor will be released in early 2016.

Apart from LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P, the first smartphone to come preinstalled with Android 6.0 is HTC One A9. HTC has now rolled the Android 6.0.1 update for One A9 users. It is not a major update as it comes with bug fixes and more than 200 emojis.

The Android 6.0.1 update will be arriving for HTC One M9 users in the first quarter of next year, 9 to 5 Google reported. The Android 6.0 upgrade for HTC One M9 and HTC One A9 smartphones is expected to arrive with the most recent Sense 7.0 UI.
