Android 5.1 Lollipop from Sony Mobile will soon arrive to all units under the Xperia Z collection next month. The company also included four other models outside the Xperia Z line to receive Android 5.1 OS.

Sony Android 5.1 Lollipop for Xperia Z And Other Models Rolling Out On July

Sony Mobile finally confirms the rollout of the official Android 5.1 Lollipop OS for several Xperia devices. According to the latest blog post by the company, Android 5.1 Lollipop is set to be released next month, July 2015. In addition, the company also confirmed the extension of Android 5.1 software support for other products in the portfolio after receiving tons of feedback and requests. Here are the devices included on the Android 5.1 Lollipop software upgrade:

- Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3v

- Xperia Z3 Compact

- Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

- Xperia Z2

- Xperia Z2 Tablet

- Xperia Z1 Compact

- Xperia Z Ultra

- Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1s

- Xperia Z

- Xperia Tablet Z

- Xperia ZL and Xperia ZR

Aside from the entire Sony Xperia Z Collection, Sony also included other Xperia models to be upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop. It includes Sony Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia T2 Ultra Dual, Xperia C3 and Xperia C3 Dual while Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Dual and Xperia M2 Aqua will go straight to the said Android OS version. Users will have to be patient on the update once it begins next month has timing and availability vary by market and by network carrier.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Changes Spotted On Sony Xperia Z3 And Xperia Z2

Recently, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version has been spotted running on both Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 having the software build 23.4.A.0.279 and 23.4.A.0.248, respectively. Notable changes on the new software version include Drop-down Box menu for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allowing users to select available networks and devices to be paired and revamped on the themes and icons by adapting more to Google’s Material Design.

Other expected improvements on Android 5.1.1 could be major bug fixes on Android 5.0 Lollipop, latest updates on Sony exclusive apps and services, more efficient and stable software and optimised battery life. Sony is yet to release the official change log of Android 5.1 Lollipop on July.
