Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Software Version Coming Soon To Older Sony Xperia Z Models

Users of Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z are soon to receive the Android 5.0.2 software update after PTCRB certified a new firmware build version 10.6.A.0.454. Based on the website of PTCRB, the newly certified software is compatible with Sony Xperia Z C6602 and C6603, Xperia ZL C5302 and C5303, Xperia ZR C5502 and C5503, and Xperia Tablet Z SGP521.

Reports from XperiaBlog exposed the major move up of the build number from 10.5 to 10.6, indicating level up from Android KitKat to Android Lollipop. Sony Philippines recently posted at Twitter that an Android Lollipop update for Xperia Z will commence by next week and it matches the earlier promise of Sony Mobile to deliver the latest Android version to all models under the Xperia Z series.

“@JVNML13 sorry please disregard our tweet before, Lollipop update for Xperia Z will start rolling out by next week,” posted by @SonyPHinc.

Sony Mobile already updated several models with Android Lollipop during the first quarter of 2015 including Xperia Z3 and Z2 series, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3. Other models such as Xperia T3, Xperia E3, Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Aqua are still in the dark regarding Android Lollipop update. Android Lollipop software update from Sony Mobile includes the following changes:

- Fresh, streamlined looks based from the Material Design by Google but retaining minimalistic approach of user interface and application design.

- New design for the notifications and lock screen with fully customisable settings.

- Multiple user profiles and guest mode for security and privacy.

- Productivity and battery life features from Android for Work ecosystem.

- Better storage control and customisation such as moving apps to the SD card.
