HTC, Motorola and Sony have confirmed the upgrade plans for the next generation Android 5.0 Lollipop. Latest reports unveiled the current position of LG on the new Android version and what possible changes on the Android Lollipop version of Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

Confirmed Android 5.0 Lollipop Upgrade Plans

1. Taiwanese company HTC confirmed the upcoming Android 5.0 Lollipop for HTC One series. Android 5.0 with HTC Sense UI will be primarily available on HTC One M8 and M7 then followed by other HTC One models such as HTC One Max and HTC One Mini. Other selected models are also planned to be upgraded but the company did not provide specifics yet.

2. Motorola awaits the official release of Android 5.0 Lollipop from Google to begin software development for at least six smartphone models. The company plans to bring the new Android version to Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.

3. Sony Mobile plans to upgrade the entire Xperia Z collection starting on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition. Official blog of the company included Xperia Z, ZR, ZL, Tablet Z, Z1, Z1s, Z Ultra, Z1 Compact, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3v, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact. Android 5.0 Lollipop with Xperia Home UI will start on Xperia Z3 devices by early 2015.

4. Google devices such as Nexuses and Play Editions are also receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the coming weeks. Google confirms LG Nexus 4, LG Nexus 5, ASUS Nexus 7 and Samsung Nexus 10 included on the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade plans.

5. Xolo confirmed the upcoming Android 5.0 Lollipop software update for Xolo One which is currently running the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS version.

6. Android 5.0 Lollipop for OnePlus One has been confirmed via OnePlus forum expected to be released within three months after its official launch.

LG And Samsung Android 5.0 Lollipop Upgrade Plans

Although several devices from LG and Samsung are eligible to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update, both South Korean tech companies are quiet about the expected software release and nominated devices. LG told Tech Radar that there is no schedule of Android 5.0 Lollipop update for LG G3 at the moment, but models such as LG G3, G2, G2 Mini and G3 Beat are all eligible to receive the next generation Android OS version.

Samsung on the other hand seems busy dealing with the revamp on TouchWiz UI. An exclusive preview from SamMobile revealed the Android 5.0 Lollipop of TouchWiz UI running on Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F carrying the build version LRW58J.
