T-Mobile has started the testing phase of the official Android 5.0 Lollipop software for Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z1s. Within this stage, both devices will have to undergo certification process to ensure quality before being released to users.

T-Mobile Now Testing Android 5.0 Lollipop For Sony Xperia Z3 And Xperia Z1s

Users of T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z1s can now expect the upcoming release of the official Android 5.0 Lollipop software update after the network carrier confirmed its testing phase. According to the official software support webpage of T-Mobile, Android 5.0 Lollipop is currently being tested for Sony Xperia Z3 D6616 and Xperia Z1s C6916 and within this phase, both devices must undergo certification process to guarantee best quality software possible. One of the features to be included on this update is the LTE Band 12 or 700 MHz support for Xperia Z3 to be released this month. The new software has been under Manufacturer Development in March 2015 prior to T-Mobile Testing as part of the three key stages development before the deployment.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Key Features

Android 5.0 Lollipop adds a variety of new features to any eligible device. Based from Sony’s official software upgrade details, devices with Android 5.0 will receive of the following improvements:

- New overall user interface design based from Google’s Material Design but retaining minimalistic approach.

- New look on the notifications and lock screen with fully customisable settings.

- Multiple user profiles and Guest Mode to increase privacy and security.

- Better control on storage space including transfer of apps from the internal memory to the SD card.

- Improvements to battery life and productivity features.

Other key features in general provided by Google via Android 5.0 Lollipop are SELinux to enhance protection against malware and vulnerabilities, better Wi-Fi connection and more efficient Bluetooth connectivity. Android 5.0 Lollipop also provides Android Runtime to improve app performance and responsiveness, OpenGL ES 3.1 to upgrade mobile graphics rendering and Android Smart Lock to secure the device by pairing it with a trusted device, a wearable or a car.
