HTC One first and second generation are two among several devices planned by HTC to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop within 90 days after the official release by Google. Moreover, HTC plans to push the major software on other devices including Google Play Editions, One Mini and One Max.

HTC One Family: Android 5.0 Lollipop Features

HTC announced Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade on all models of the HTC One Family, which include the HTC One M8, One M7, One Mini, One Mini 2 and One Max. Other variants such as One M8 Eye, One E8 CDMA, One Remix and One M8 Dual are likely to receive updates from respective network carriers. Google Play Edition of HTC One devices are also included on the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Google made the Android 5.0 Lollipop features public, which will boost performance, user experience and battery life of any compatible devices. For HTC running Sense UI, here are some features expected to be included:

- Revamp on the notifications running on both home and lock screens.

- Project Volta for better battery monitoring.

- New security implementations including SELinux.

- Improvements for Internet connectivity and Bluetooth Low Energy.

- Android Runtime for up to 400 per cent more efficiency on apps.

- OpenGL ES 3.1 for near-desktop graphics rendition.

- Raw image format support such as YUV and Bayer RAW.

- Additional 15 languages.

- Print preview and page range support.

What Things HTC Will Add On The Android 5.0 Lollipop?

Expect revamp on the HTC Sense user interface just like with Android KitKat update. Recent Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 update released by HTC improved BlinkFeed, Gallery, fonts, Apps Tray and more.

HTC can utilise several default features on Android 5.0 Lollipop such as new camera APIs, upgrades on sound support and improvements on multimedia. These upgrades can improve the some notable functions on HTC One devices:

- Smoothness of HTC BlinkFeed due to more responsive UI from Android 5.0.

- Additional functions for HTC Zoe due to new camera APIs and raw image file support.

- BoomSound enhancements from new multi-channel audio stream mixing.

- Better apps, gaming and services from OpenGL ES 3.1 and Android Runtime.
