Users of Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet are confirmed eligible to receive Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Official update from Sprint is now available for Samsung Galaxy S5 while Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet just got certified by PTCRB.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat On Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2 And Xperia Z2 Tablet

Samsung confirms that Sprint subscribers of Galaxy S5 are eligible to Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Official website of the company revealed that the new firmware has the G900PVPU1ANI4 build version bringing changes such as HD voice icon, international VoWiFi and security updates from Google.

PTCRB certified the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware for Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Sony Xperia Z2 D6502, D6503 and L50w along with Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 and SGP541 have been certified for the new software version. Users can expect to get firmware build version 23.0.1.A.0.167 running Android 4.4.4 KitKat soon. As of now, no official release dates have been announced by the company. It is also uncertain if Sony Mobile ported some exclusive features from Xperia Z3 to Xperia Z2 including the respective tablets.

What Users Will Get On Android 4.4.4 KitKat?

Aside from receiving the latest version of Samsung and Sony respective user interfaces via Android 4.4.4 KitKat, several features are also waiting to be installed on these devices. Primarily, Android 4.4.4 delivers updated security patches from Google along with various bug fixes and other additions such as:

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 users can now download and install the latest Android 4.4.4 update by connecting the smartphone to Wi-Fi and going to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates. For Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablets, users will need to wait till the firmware is available. It is expected to be available via Update Centre app, Sony PC Companion on Windows PC and Sony Bridge for MAC.
