After the Android 4.1.2. Jelly Bean upgrade to Motorola Electrify M, the next of its kin, Electrify 2 begins to receive the same update. The software update for Electrify 2 will be pushed in phases.

According to Motorola, the upgrade offers many features to help organise and make your life easier, including expanded notifications, Voice Search, and Google Now. However, the software update will be pushed out to Electrify 2 gradually which means it won't be seen immediately unless your device is one of the chosen to have it first.

The build number of the update is 9.8.3O-118-14 and will make Electrify 2 run Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean version. Here are some changelog details of the new firmware version.

  • Expanded Notifications - Reminders about meetings or appointments from the calendar app are now possible and you can tap once to snooze them or email to reply. The Google Play Music controls show up in the notifications menu to pause, fast forward or rewind to the beginning of the track.
  • Voice Search - Ask a question and get back the answer you're looking for, ranging from "When is the next bus?" to "Where can I find a great Mexican restaurant?" You'll either get a spoken response back or search results that answer your query.
  • Google Now - Automatic notifications from Google Now and generates real-time information before you even ask. Electrify 2 can now deliver sports scores, stock updates, weather reports, and traffic updates with this feature.
  • Project Butter - Better performance with fluid and buttery-smooth UI feeling.
