Andrew Garfield recently shared his thoughts about Tom Holland being the new Spider-Man during an interview with Entertainment Online in Beverly Hills on Aug. 13. He also briefly talked about why he is happy he no longer has to portray the web crawler in the “Spider-Man” reboot.

Garfield has been silent since Marvel and Sony announced Holland as the new Peter Parker. However, the actor finally addressed the casting changes during an interview with Entertainment Online at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Annual Grants Banquet. When asked for his thoughts on Holland as the new Spider-Man, Garfield replied, "It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor.”

As to why Holland fits the role of Spider-Man, Garfield said the young star has the right form considering he is a dancer. Andrew also attributed Holland’s previous acting experiences.

“He was in this movie 'The Impossible' and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor,” he added.

The 31-year-old also revealed that he has no ill feelings over not being cast for the role. Instead, Garfield admitted that he feels “excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it.”

It’s believed Sony and Marvel didn’t recast Garfield for the “Spider-Man” role because the reboot will focus on a teenage Peter Parker. At 19 years old, Holland is said to be the perfect actor to portray the character.

Holland was chosen among the many contenders, including Charlie Rowe, for the role of Spider-Man because of the skill he displayed during his test audition. Marvel and Sony were reportedly very impressed. Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures Motion Pictures Group, said in an official statement that Holland’s screen tests were “special.”

The Hollywood Reporter says Holland was the only contender asked to do a final screen test with Chris Evans (“Captain America”). Sources claimed the 19-year-old was tested separately with Evans and with Robert Downey Jr. (“Iron Man”).

Holland is set to debut his new role as the web crawler with a cameo appearance in “Captain America: Civil War.” He will lead the “Spider-Man” reboot on July 28, 2017.
