‘America’s Got Talent 2016’ Update: Grace VanderWaal, 12, gets Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel [VIDEO]

Grace VanderWaal, a 12-year-old singer from Suffern, New York, earned a Golden Buzzer from Howie Mandel on the second week of auditions of “America’s Got Talent” 2016 a.k.a. AGT. The ukulele player sang “I Don’t Know My Name” which she wrote herself.

“I’m doing my own song tonight because I really think that shows who I am,” VanderWaal said in an off-stage interview with AGT. Prior to her performance, she told Simon Cowell that “miracles can happen” when he asked her if she thought she could win. The kid was supported by her parents and her older sister, Olivia, who she said was her best friend.

The audience and the four judges gave Grace’s performance a standing ovation. Howie commented that she was a “living, beautiful, walking miracle” before giving her the much-coveted and highly sought-after Golden Buzzer. This gave the 12-year-old ukulele player a spot in the show’s semi-finals. The 60-year-old Canadian judge then went onstage and congratulated her personally.

“You know what I predict for you? I think you’re the next Taylor Swift,” Simon Cowell tells the auditionee from New York. Mel B and Heidi Klum then commented that they see potential in her. Backstage, “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon joked if he could get an autograph from Grace.

“I think I have found the biggest star in the history of America’s Got Talent,” Howie stated in an extra footage. The host also unwaveringly agreed with Simon’s afterword. In the same video, Grace narrated that her mother signed her up for “America’s Got Talent” without her knowing. She also said that she was nervous as it was her first time performing in front of a crowd.

The video of Grace’s audition on the official YouTube account of “America’s Got Talent” currently has over 21 million views and over 330 thousand upvotes.
