"American Idol" Season 14 airs its premiere episode on Jan. 7 on Fox. Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr come back for their second consecutive year as co-judges in the panel. The network has released a video teasing the season's Top 24, with host Ryan Seacrest announcing they are doing things differently this year.

The premiere episode of American Idol Season 14 comes in two parts. The first installment airs Jan. 7; the second airs Jan. 8 (Wednesday and Thursday). This is J-Lo's fourth season a judge, Urban's third, and Connick Jr's second.

Among the changes in American Idol Season 14 is the absence of Randy Jackson as mentor. Fox and the producers have earlier released a statement, saying they wish Jackson all the best "in his next chapter," and they hope Jackson will "visit from time to time."

Replacing Jackson as mentor is Scott Borchetta, who signed Taylor Swift to his Big Machine Label when she was 14 years old.

"There's only one reason I'm doing this: American Idol has proven again and again that it can launch superstars," Borchetta told The Hollywood Reporter.

Adam Lambert (American Idol Season 8 runner-up) is also part of this season's search for the next powerhouse talent. Adam filled in for Keith in this year's Long Island auditions. Billboard.com reported Keith had to take some time off to be with his wife, whose father passed away in September.

American Idol Season 14 begins airing once a week when it reaches its Top 10.
