Rumours of Jennifer Lopez returning on American Idol refuse to die, and it’s getting louder everyday. The singer has reportedly signed a $15-M deal with Fox to be able to return on the judges’ panel on American Idol for Season 13. This makes her one of the highest paid, reality show judges on American television.

But wait, hold your horses! Don’t get excited just as yet. The amount Jenny has reportedly penned with the Idol honchos may be staggering to date but it’s still two million short of what Mariah Carey received to replace her. And “Dahling,” Mariah didn’t even stick well on the judges panel as she didn’t have much to say most of the time. And her on-air bickering with fellow judge Nicki Minaj has made Idol painful to watch and was seen as one of the reasons Idol’s rating plummeted to its lowest low in Season 12.

But Jennifer still allegedly agreed to sign on the deal.

This is the same amount Britney Spears got when she agreed to sit with Simon Cowell on ‘X-Factor’ USA. And this is $5-M higher than her salary when she debuted as a judge in 2011. The amount is also believed to be $3-M higher when she left Idol after Season 11. Jennifer did not return on Idol for Season 12 and she went on world tour instead.

But is the deal still good for “Jenny from the Block” singer?

It could be if you’re going to look at it from Jen’s personal perspective.

Reports have it that Jen has been keen on returning on Idol since the day the Season 12 winner was announced. The search for new judges had started even before the season ended and Jennifer has been touted as among the top candidates for the job.

It will be recalled that Jennifer, like Australian judge Keith Urban was well-liked on the panel and she had always made contestants cry. Just the sight of the singer and idea of being in the room with her had always turn contestants to tears and the decision to sit out for one season has done more harm than good for the show.

Her return however, will not only benefit the show as it benefits her, too. Jennifer is reportedly planning on settling in Los Angeles as her twins are going to begin schooling at about the same time Idol Season 13 is making the airwaves.

Jen felt that it will be best to find a job near the twins’ school and having Idol on the side and in between sending-her-twins-to-school chores and romantic dates with boytoy, Casper Smart, $15M is a whole lot of deal for Jen.

''Idol allowed her to do that, the twins will enter kindergarten soon and stability is important for them and Jennifer at this time. She's looking for possible schools for the kids in Los Angeles at the moment. Plus, if she's living there full-time she will be able to focus on her film career and other ventures, including her fashion business,' a source was quoted as telling RadarOnline.com'
