Barely a month before the eleventh season of American Idol come to a close, four contestants face the possibility of winning it all. Who will be there for a face-off and sing-off in the end?

Phillip Phillips has been a top favorite since his remarkable Georgia auditions at the season premiere. Phillips quickly rose to fame for his catchy covers of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller." (See the full video of Phillip's audition here.)

Among the final four, Phillips is the only one who has never landed in the bottom three. Even resident mentor, Jimmy Lovine, was convinced he could not be safe after his Maroon 5 cover during the Top 7 performance show. A week after that, Phillip dished out his best and most pop-ish cover yet, "U Got it Bad" by Usher.

The audience and even the judges are given to believe that voters are more inclined to support the male contestants in the show. In fact, it has been five years since the show has last crowned a female Idol (Jordin Sparks, Season 6).

There is reason to believe that Phillip Phillips, with his charm and shy-sexy vibe, could make it to the finals if he continues to dish out good performances each week.

After Colton Dixon made a sudden exit two weeks ago, the audience saw more reason to be convinced that Phillip will sing live on the Idol stage all the way to the finals. He now has the undivided support of the young tweens, and he may have indeed gained new fans after that incredibly hot Usher cover.

The perfect proof was seen Thursday night, when the latest results revealed Phillip was safe despite his non-spectacular performance of "Time of the Season" by The Zombies. Jennifer Lopez has described his performance as "sexy," so he may have more than the young female tweens backing him up.

There is no one else in the Final Four who can boast of a very strong support from a solid fan base other than Phillip Phillips. Joshua Ledet has had a taste of the bottom three very early on in the competition, when he joined the three lowest vote getters in the male group after the second live performance show. Ledet found himself in the bottom three again after covering Bruno Mars' "Runaway Baby" merely three weeks ago.

Hollie Cavanagh has made several - five, to be exact - trips to the bottom, and even her stunning performance in the last show did not help her.

Jessica Sanchez, who is believed to be the strongest among the girls after an outstanding cover of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You," would have gone home three weeks ago if the judges did not have a 'save' for the season. Jessica never made another bottom three appearance since then, so it may be safe to assume that her fan base will never let her down again.

It seems Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez will make it to the finals, after all. This early forecast has seen the possibility early on, although a lot can change in a week's time. The audience can only stand by and vote to their heart's content until the season is over.
