“American Idol” 2015, aka AI Season 14, has officially revealed its Top 24 in episodes 13 and 14, which aired on Fox on Feb. 18 and 19, respectively. Tyanna Jones, Adanna Duru, Qaasim Middleton, Clark Beckham and Loren Lott were among the best performers in the final lap of the pre-voting performances. Cody Fry also delivered a strong number, but the Idol judges were not impressed enough.

Spoiler alert: This update contains details on “American Idol” 2015 Top 24. Read on at your own risk.

“American Idol” Season 14 judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr have narrowed down their favourites to Top 24 using a vague set of criteria. They tell some finalists it’s about their talent/potential; others, it’s the uniqueness of their voice.

During deliberations in “American Idol” 2015 episode 13, the Idol judges agreed Fry is “talented.” Connick Jr remarked Fry would have made it “if he had just given more show” at the House of Blues. Fry took the decision in good spirits, accepting what he did “wasn’t enough.”

During the House of Blues live showcase, Tyanna Jones (16 y.o.), Adanna Duru (18), Qaasim Middleton (18), Clark Beckham (22) and Loren Lott (22) performed like pros. They gave good shows, fed off the joyful energy of the crowd and owned the stage. “American Idol” 2015 has given these five a lot of screen time from city auditions, and they have been consistently good.

Cody Fry has been consistently good as well; so much so, that jaws of his fellow Idol hopefuls dropped when it is revealed he failed to make it to Top 24. Fry’s song choice at the House of Blues showcase (“Viva La Vida” by Coldplay) may have worked against him, but it is difficult to agree with the judges that Trevor Douglas (16) and Daniel Seavey (15) did significantly better overall.

Trevor and Daniel, however, stand out for their charm and connection to the audience. “American Idol” has shown time and again that charm and personality have to go with music talent in order to make it to the judges’ favourites.

The other Idol hopefuls who made it to “American Idol” 2015 Top 24 are: Adam Ezegelian, Alexis Gomez, Jax, Joey Cook, Katherine Winston, Lovey James, Maddie Walker, Mark Andrew, Michael Simeon, Nick Fradiani, Quentin Alexander, Rayvon Owen, Riley Bria, Sarina-Joi Crowe, Savion Wright, Shannon Berthiaume, and Shi Scott.

Here are some of the AI Season 14 episode 13, as posted by American Idol (verified) on YouTube:

American Idol 2015: Adanna Duru in Top 24 – Episode 13 (‘It’s A Man’s World’ by James Brown)

American Idol 2015: Clark Beckham in Top 24 – Episode 13 (‘Georgia On My Mind’ by Ray Charles)

“American Idol” Season 14 is moving closer to the Top 10 Week, when the program begins airing only once a week. Public voting this year will be very different from the previous 13 seasons. Voting begins in episode 15, airing on Fox on Feb. 25.
