Amber Holcomb may be on Top Final Four but she has always been under the radar and has never out-shined her fellow finalists who have won the hearts not only of the Idol judges but also of all who watch TV's most popular talent show.

Until Amber delivered what has now been regarded as her best performance on stage throughout this season - - a song that brought the house down and the judges on their feet.

Holcomb was schooled to soar, as Examiner.com put it. Her week began with an “embarassing moment” with mentor Harry Connick, Jr. The guest mentor had asked Amber - - during rehearsal for her song choice for the classic musical standard, “My Funny Valentine” - - what the song meant (and what it could mean to her.) It was clear, as seen in the video, that Amber did not know what the words in the song meant - - indeed a time for any upcoming artist to want to leave the room full of audience when caught off guard the way she was.

Amber was at a loss for words. Connick gave her a “valuable lesson, ” when he suggested that the hopeful look for the lyrics, study them again and understand the meaning, underscoring "you have to know what you're singing about." A moment that had Connick praised Amber for “taking an embarassing critique” the elegant way - - no tears, no stubborness. A moment that brought Amber her first great performance on American Idol 2013 throughout Season 12.

The judges who have been devoted to her since Top Final 10 had to do something better for a job well done. They got off the chair and gave her the rare (for Amber) standing ovation.

Nicki Minaj: “"Oh my God, that was so beautiful, Amber. Oh my God! From the set to your outfit to your poise, the subtle spirit that took over you -- why you lookin' like you want to cry?!"

And she didn’t stop praising Amber even after the songstress explained “she was just overwhelmed.”

Nicki Minaj: “"Don't you make me cry! You're up there crying because you're thinking about votes, and I told you last week, it doesn't matter about votes. You're a superstar. You have fans everywhere, stop! No matter what you do, no matter what happens tomorrow, you have a lifetime ahead of you to make incredible moments in music, my darling. Please believe in yourself. That was a great job!"

Randy Jackson: “"Amber, I think you made a believer out of a lot of people tonight that loved you that were right there on the fence... How you ended that song, that last half of that song, was absolutely unbelievable. So you should be so proud of yourself, and it's a hard song to sing!... Your voice was stellar. Congratulations."

Mariah Carey: "Tonight, [your] spirit is there bigger and better than ever before. Thank you Amber, thank you so much."

Keith Urban: "When you hit that run, the audience went crazy. We went crazy. And from that point on, Amber, your performance was stellar, because all you needed was a little bit of confidence, baby."

With all the confidence Amber gained from the judges' comments, will she be a real threat to powerful songbird, Candice Glover and frontrunner, Angie Miller? Is Kree Harrison going home because of Amber Holcomb?
