Veteran judge Randy Jackson may have left the building, but his loyalty remains strong for 'American Idol.' Jackson admitted that Idol must fear the success in ratings of its rival show, ‘The Voice,’ but he was quick to quip that American Idol still has the rigor it once had twelve seasons after.

At the Reality TV Emmy Roundtable organised by The Hollywood Reporter recently, Idol’s Season 12 head judge made the assertion when the issue on the show’s plummeting rating vis-a-vis The Voice’s success in numbers came up.

Jackson asserted, “I don't think about ratings that much because I think when you're in your 12th season and you're still on the air, and you're getting 11, 12, 13 million people an episode, wow."

Jackson, a music artist in his own right, has become one of the institutions of Fox’s 'American Idol' for his contribution to the show’s success. The last of the original judges to leave the show, Randy confessed, however, that ratings have been a concern for the show since “there’s a target on your back because there’s a show ['The Voice'] in its fourth season that’s getting that, so you go, ‘Wait a minute, really?’

But Jackson never let up in his beliefs on 'Idol.'

He said, “But we have a saying in the music business: Do you know how you know that you've made it? As soon as they start hating on you, you must be huge. So we get all of the hate from the critics, from the journalists, from everybody, 'Idol's fallen, the show's over, it's tanking, whatever.' I see it and go, 'Wow, we must be really good.”

The numbers and those hitting Idol Jackson underscored never succeeded in putting him down, the recently departed judge noted.

"[It] never gets to me. I played in so many bands for nobody in the crowd, I played a million shows before I made four dollars. So guess what? Bring it on," Jackson was quoted as saying by The Huffington Post.

Jackson is among the TV personalities featured at the recent Envelope Emmy Rountable held recently. Joining him are Gordon Ramsay, Tom Bergeron, Phil Keoghan, Heidi Klum and Padma Lakshmi.
