Fifty minutes into the one-hour results show, American Idol has yet to reveal who were safe and who were in the bottom two among the season's Final Four.

Host Ryan Seacrest held out the announcements until the last minute of the show.

Phillip Phillips was first to be called. Mentor, Jimmy Iovine, a fan of his last performance, said Phillip delivered what everyone was waiting for from him since the beginning.

"It was all magnificent. If I had seen that in a club on a cold night, I'd sign him right there," Iovine said.

Hollie Cavanagh was called in next. Jimmy said her performance did not show that she understood what the song was about, and her stumbling efforts at the last notes in "I Can't Make You Love" did not do her well.

"When Hollie came in with Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make You Love Me, I assumed she understood the core of the song. Evidently, she did not."

Both Phillip and Hollie were sent back to the couches with no results.

Season 7 "American Idol" winner, David Cook, was in the house. He sang his new single, "The Last Song I'll Write for You." It is a break up song about someone realizing that he is ready to say goodbye with a final song. It is softer and more sensitive compared to most of his songs in his previous album, This Loud Morning.

Joshua Ledet was asked to step forward after a commercial break. Jimmy described his James Brown cover as a "piece of magic."

"I've seen Prince, I've seen Bruce Springsteen do that, but I've never seen that on American Idol," he gushed.

Jessica Sanchez was the last to be called. Jimmy said Sanchez aced the Dreamgirls song, "And I am Telling You I am Not Going."

"She brought all her artillery in the right proportion," he said, adding that Tommy Mottola emailed him and said, "I'm going to her first concert; this is the real thing."

In the final moments of the results show, Ryan revealed that the last spot in the Final Three belongs to Phillip Phillips.

Noticeably, Ryan made no mention of "bottom two" during the show. (It is probably a strategy to keep the fans aggressive in voting next week.)

Hollie sang "The Climb" as her farewell song in the competition.

So the Final Three on American Idol's Season 11: Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, and never-been-in-the-bottom-three Phillip Phillips. Next week, their "Hometown Hero" visits will be featured, and the Final Two will be revealed.
