Amazon has announced that it is opening its doors to Android and iOS. Prime members will now be able to watch their favourite movies and television shows even when they are using gadgets from Apple or ones that are powered by an Android software.

Now that Amazon Prime has been made accessible to other devices, this just might further increase the company's market. What makes this deal even sweeter is that Prime users can avail of the service on their iOS or Android units for free.

Amazon Prime Instant Video is the very first platform to expand its service to make space for offline viewing. This way, users can enjoy their favourite titles, based on what Prime offers, at any time and place even when not connected to the Internet, according to Tech Times.

It is also the first to permit users to download titles that are part of the yearly subscription package, something that Hulu and Netflix reportedly does not offer. This means that users can now watch original series from Amazon on their soon-to-be-unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Apple iPhone 6s.

"There is no doubt that the way people watch entertainment is changing anytime, anywere viewing is important," Amazon's Vice President of Digital Video, Michael Paull, said in a press release. "We are excited to provide our Prime members with offline viewing capabilities on iOS and Android platforms starting today."

"We are proud to be the first and only online subscription streaming service that enables offline viewing-on vacation, in a car, at the beach, on a plane, wherever our Prime members want to watch, they can - regardless of Internet connection," he added.

Android and iOS device owners can now download various TV shows such as "Hannibal," "Entourage," "Downton Abbey," "Orphan Black," "True Blood," "Under the Dome" and "Grimm."
