“The Amazing Spider-Man” stars Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have reportedly pulled the plug on their longtime relationship months ago.

A source close to the pair confirmed the news to E! News. Stone and Garfield have reportedly separated because of their busy work schedules.

Despite ending their relationship, Stone and Garfield continue to be on good terms and close. "There is definitely still love for each other there," the source said. "They remain close and are on good terms."

Rumours about Stone and Garfield’s troubled relationship started circulating earlier this year. There were reports that suggested that the two are no longer together, which has now been officially confirmed.

“They have been really busy, so they finally have had time to see each other again. They care for each other and always have the best time when together,” a source told E! News in May.

E! News reported that the pair were last spotted together on a lunch date with friends in Venice, California over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Stone, 26, and Garfield, 32, started dating each other while filming “The Amazing Spider-Man” in 2011.

The 26-year-old actress talked to Wall Street Journal Magazine in June how she managed the speculations about her relationship status with Garfield. She said that she never talked about the issue because the media won’t stop asking questions about a possible break up.

“I understand the interest in it completely, because I've had it, too,” she said. “But it's so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don't talk about it.”

The “Easy A” actress also admitted that she carried a paper bag with the label “Andrew Garfield” to show her “rebelliousness” against the media.

Stone played the role of Gwen Stacy while Garfield starred as Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man.”
