Amal and Clooney exchanged vows in a state-of-art ceremony in France. The couple's wedding was a much talked about event in the Hollywood industry. Various A-list celebrities including, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso, Ellen Barkin, Anna Wintour, Steve Lukather, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, attended the four-day wedding celebration in Italy. Clooney's friend and "Ocean's Eleven's" co- star Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie had missed the nuptials, as they were busy shooting in Malta.

After the wedding, Amal took Clooney's name and is now known as Amal Clooney. Her name on her professional profile on the Doughty Street Chambers website has also been changed. Meanwhile, apart from enjoying the wedding bliss, Amal would soon be taking the case of Mr. Mohamed Fahmy, a journalist currently spending jail time in Egypt. Amal and her colleague Mark Wassouf have said in an official statement that Fahmy's conviction be disallowed as it is "fundamentally unfair and his imprisonment a travesty of justice," according to E!

The 40-year-old Cairo chief for Al-Jazeera TV Network was allegedly blamed for being the member of Muslim Brotherhood group. The group is now banned. The evidence for Fahmy's connection to the group was never procured till date. The journalist is suffering from Hepatatis C and Clooney has asked for his release on compassionate grounds. Fahmy was reportedly convicted for just reporting the news on the infamous group.
